Fixing the waffle iron with Radio Shack parts
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I also had the problem with the thermal fuse burning out (light comes on but waffle iron doesn’t get hot).
Other reviews have described how to find the fuse on the underside of the lower heating plate. I wanted to add information about using Radio Shack parts found locally to fix the device.
I bought the “443°F (228°C) Thermal Protector Fuse” as a replacement. It’s rated a little lower than the 240°C fuse described elsewhere, but I suspect it’s not that big a difference.
[...]
After cutting away the old fuse, I used “Crimp-On Telephone/Alarm Connectors” to connect the new fuse to the existing wires without needing to solder.
[...]
I held the connectors in a candle flame to burn off the plastic coating prior to installation. Otherwise, the plastic would likely burn up the first time the waffle iron was heated up.
The biggest problem we had was re-assembling the waffle iron after installing the fuse. The screw holes in the waffle iron deform easily and we had problems getting the screws to stay in place when putting them back in. My wife came up with a fix involving using longer screws, but that’s a whole different story . . .
Won’t last long, but was such a blast
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
We loved this waffle maker. Just like the restaurant grade waffle makers. Makes wonderful perfect waffles just about every time. The novelty of the item made it worth it. We had waffle parties, dinners, etc. and it was just a blast.
The down side:
1 not built to last. After about 2 years the plastic handle broke and we could no longer flip the waffle.
2 Clean up is kind of messy, it builds up with gunk after many uses, especially when you use the non-stick sprays it will get coated with a brownish sticky film. The hinge points are hard to clean.
3 It is very big and bulky – we could not keep it in the kitchen because the amount of room it occupied.
A Marvel: excellent when working right; a sparking fuseblower when moody
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This is a marvelous machine when functioning according to design. Others have reviewed its positive features. And others have reviewed its downfall: a short in the wiring when flipping. On this iron’s fifth outing since purchase, the little woman of the house exclaimed loudly when on the second waffle, a flash emitted from between the two plates, and the kitchen circuit breaker popped. Doesn’t always happen, though, and after several circuit resets, she managed to finish up the batter. Waring telephone customer service responded within two days with an offer to replace it with currently made model, the one with folding handle. Waring also issued a UPS call tag to reclaim the sparky unit for examination. We’ll see if the ‘Toyota fix’ has been applied to the waffle iron that is being sent as replacement.
Waffle Iron stops working after 10 uses
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The Waring “Pro” Belgian Waffle Maker is a piece of garbage. I am on my second one, and like the first one, the waffle maker stopped cooking waffles. The first one died after about 5-6 uses. I then returned (didn’t buy it from Amazon) and tried another one out. The second one last about 7-8 uses, and then crapped out again. I heard the heating element goes bad in this model, and supposedly you can buy a fuse [...]. I will probably just go to the store, buy a new one, and return this old one. I with Waring would remedy this issue, since it seems like everybody that owns this product has had issues with it. I would definitely not recommend this product, unless you like paying $80 for 10 waffles.

The Waring Pro Waffle maker is a great product producing some of the best Belgian Waffles I’ve ever had. I have found that you must spray the plates with a spray oil with each waffle to ensure nonsticking but it works great . This product is well worth the price. I found the best price at Amazon.com
